ART VERSUS ART!

My good friend, Dusty, and I have created a sweet new blog devoted to artists (or semi-artistics) as an inspirational outlet for their new projects. Art Versus Art challenges individuals with weekly subjects and encourages them to post pictures of their interpretations of the theme. Dusty and I will get to participate too (thank god -- reason to live, art)!

As we know, competition breeds innovation. This is why we decided to make a voting system at the end of each due date. The winner gains bragging rights, site promotion on artversusart, and, once we gain more traffic, substantial prizes.

We chose Harry Potter for our first week's topic because of it's premiere on Friday. I've already finished my project and here it is below. I plan on working with different mediums each week. No matter how successful this blog becomes, I know it will benefit me and Dusty as artists. Excited!

Dave's Starry Night

My brother resquested I paint him an interpretation of Starry Night. So cliche right? Or so assistant/boyfriend, Jeffrey, says - I somewhat agree. BUT, I thought it would be lots of fun. Here's what I have so far.

I used this completely perfect fabric for the background. I'm going for a multimedia technique. It's only 1/3 done. I'll update when I get more done.

Craft Fair!

This weekend a few friends and I will be participating in a craft fair in Los Osos. We've all been buckling down, trying to get everything ready - it was definitely more work than we thought. I have 17 items available for purchase, 16 cases and 1 Hello Kitty bow barrett that I've been hoarding for awhile. Last night I took some pictures to document all the work I've done in the last couple of weeks.
